Client of the month April 2012

For April I would like to share our fantastic client Taylor with you.  Taylor started off over a year ago as so many clients do; coming in to get lashes for her wedding.  She had previously been getting them in another state, and wanted to keep them going for the wedding.  Once you have Flawless Lashes, you cannot go without!

Every time she comes to her appointment her lashes are nice and clean, with many extensions still perfectly in place.  When I asked Taylor about her Flawless Lashes she had this to say:

What I like about my lashes is that I feel as if they accentuate my eyes. I am constantly getting compliments so that reassures me that they look really natural. I just think they make my lashes more luring!

As for my routine…I gently wash my lashes in the shower every night with baby shampoo (I simply transferred the shampoo into a travel pump. I use two pumps). Afterwards, I blot them off and apply Revitalash eye lash conditioner to the base of my lashes. If I wore heavier eye makeup that day and need some reinforcement I’ll also use Xtreme lashes eye makeup remover (after the shampoo).

Take a look and see just how beautiful Taylor’s lashes are, totally flawless! :)

March Client of the month!

Due to Sarah’s travel schedule, we were unable to have a client of the month for February.  But just slipping in the end of March we are excited to present to you LaToya.  There are so many reasons I want to introduce you to her.  First of all, she is a total inspiration.  This girl can do just about anything, and do it well!  This year she launched her business www.ihearthair.com, she helps plan weddings, and I can even ask her questions about quickbooks (accounting software for those of you lucky enough to not know what it is)!  When I think of someone who seems to strike that perfect balance of busy go getter, that still knows how to take care of herself and have fun, it is LaToya.  And to top it off she is walking billboard for Flawless Lashes.  She just has those eyes that people are instantly drawn to, and she is constantly asked about her lashes!  Here is a little more info about LaToya, and photo of her gorgeous eyes!

I’m a 30-something marketer, consultant, and social media maven plus the co-owner of I Heart Hair, Inc., online hair extension company. I also enjoy working out, reading, traveling, shopping, and spending quality time with friends and family.
I love that my lashes are a natural extension of my lashes for the last 2 years. They help me to have a complete look even on the no make up days. I care for my lashes my washing them thoroughly every morning and evening with Bella B – Bee Gone Cradle Cap Shampoo. I use this shampoo to minimize buildup and natural skin shedding. It’s very gentle and reasonably priced. I also brush through my lashes in the morning and evenings but most importantly I don’t wear mascara (a personal choice). I find that by not wearing mascara my lashes last longer and appear very natural.
Thanks to LaToya for being a great Flawless Lashes client!

Client of the month- Jan. 2012

Hello all!
I wanted to start highlighting a client of Flawless Lashes each month again.  I have a few reasons for doing so, one is just to share the variety of fantastic, interesting people who we get the pleasure of spending time with each day at Flawless Lashes.  The other is to show you some clients who take very good care of their lashes, and what their results with their extensions are.  So on that note, I would like to introduce you to Sara.  Sara takes amazing care of her extensions, she comes every 3 weeks like clockwork, and has nearly 70% of her eyelashes in tact each time she arrives.  In addition there is not a single trace of any eye makeup, dirt, debris, sleep, nothing,  just squeaky clean eyelashes that I can easily extend to a beautiful, full look.

So here is a little about Sara, and a photo of her lashes:

I’m a partner in an Atlanta based, national recruitment firm, HRworks – www.HRworks.com.  We just celebrated our 14th year in business (pretty excited @ that).  We source & recruit top talent for Fortune 1000 companies.  My team delivers awesome results!

I’m an avid exerciser – gym with my personal trainer regularly, running my 2ndhalf marathon this year.  After losing 50 lbs and totally changing my way of life, I became a certified Health Coach.   So I’m into living a healthy lifestyle and inspiring others.  I love to travel, love being an aunt to my nieces & nephews, used to blog regularly but not so much anymore - http://whatztheskinny.blogspot.com/

I started with extensions 1 ½ years ago.  I saw them on someone and had to have them.  In fact, I made an appt that very day.  Great decision!  I don’t just LIKE them, I LOVE them.  They do make morning make up easier but what I love is regardless of the amount of time I spend on makeup, my lashes always look awesome.  Anywhere!  Any time!   I’m committed to my fill-in every 3 weeks.  I book in advance (love the online appointment setting!) and put on my calendar like any other critical appointment.  I have to say that not only do my lashes always look great; they look natural.  Strangers stop me all the time; make-up artists have not been able to tell that I have extensions.  It’s a riot!

When I asked Sara about her care of her extensions, she had this to say: “In the beginning I was very gentle and then learned that I didn’t have to “baby” them quite so much.  What I always do is brush lashes when I get out of the shower, when they are wet.  Then once they dry, I brush again.  I use the Extreme mascara only on the tops of the lashes.”

That’s right, she uses mascara, but honestly I didn’t even know until she told me, because when she arrives to her appt it is not her lashes at all.  I think the key here, is not only does Sara remove her makeup before her appt, but she also does so during the days between her appts, so it is not built up to the point of being impossible to remove. And this is what Sara’s lashes look like, most all of the time, they are never spiky, sparse, gappy, or sad looking.  Just Flawless Lashes!

Picky, picky

At Flawless Lashes the health of our client’s natural lashes is something we hold in very high regard. But I do realize that while eyelash extensions are virtually weightless, sometimes the feeling of having “something there” can actually lead someone to pull off or pick at their eyelashes. This activity comes in varying degrees from just pulling on a few that are grown out, to a serious condition called trichotillomania (which is the act of pulling out one’s hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc).

I understand about this desire, because I have been known to pull on or pick at my eyelash extensions. Generally it is a mindless activity that can happen while watching a movie or surfing the web; quickly something that started off as “just feeling” the lashes can result in removal of quite a lot of extensions. Or sometimes the person is very present in the moment, enjoying the feeling of sliding that extension off.

Generally it is obvious when a client has been picking her lashes, as there is normally damage to the natural lash. Over time this can cause irreparable harm to the natural lash. If you do find that wearing extensions does cause the urge to pick or pull, by all means let’s talk about it. There are ways to help the problem, whether it be moving to a lighter weight extension, applying shorter lashes, or just figuring out what the trigger of pulling is to help avoid it. Sometimes having a “zero tolerance” policy when touching lashes (other than cleaning them) really helps avoid the spiral of a lash picking session.

I want all my clients to not only have amazing Flawless Lashes eyelash extensions, but happy, healthy natural lashes as well.

repairs

This has been a week of lots of repair work, here is one of example of lashes that needed to be removed.  A less than normal amount was applied, due to time constraints, but the lashes she does have are far more comfortable and pretty now!

How to have full, thick eyelash extensions

Many clients prefer the look of a very full set of eyelash extensions. The more the better! Today, let’s go over how to maintain your eyelash extensions to keep them that way.

A full set of lashes is achieved in 2 ways, diameter of eyelash extension, and number of eyelash extensions applied. The diameter of extension is determined by the condition of your natural lashes. If someone has baby fine natural lashes, they cannot support a super thick diameter extension. I do have clients with extremely fine lashes, that find using a product like revitalash or latisse helps their natural lashes gain the strength needed to wear extensions that they could not otherwise.

Now, as for amount of lashes applied, during your initial appointment for a full set, I apply as many lashes as I can possibly get on within that 2 hour time frame. My average is 85 lashes per eye(LPE) in a 2 hour period. That is an average, and can go up or down depending on the person’s natural lashes, as well as factors like, how still the person can be during application.

So let’s say client gets set of lashes put on at 85 lashes per eye. At this point, the client can do several things to maintain this set.

1. Come to touchup appointment before you are down to less than 50%. If you think of it as a mathmetical equation, 85 LPE in 2 hours, if client comes in for an hour touchup appointment with 25 LPE left, she will not be at 85 LPE again at the end of the hour.

2. Come to your appointment on time. If you are 15 mins late, that is 15 minutes less of lashes you are getting! I try my best to go over if at all possible, but cannot guarantee availability.

3. Come to your appointment with squeaky clean lashes. I would much rather be putting on lashes during the appointment, than cleaning eyeliner.

This is your appointment, and I want you to get the most out of it!

In addition to these steps, if you have not, please look at some basic FAQ on how to care for your lashes here:

http://www.xtremelashes.com/faq_lash_extensions.aspx

I want all my clients to have the most dramatic, beautiful lashes they could ever want, so following these steps helps us both to achieve it!

“eyelash extensions”

Maybe you have seen advertised “eyelash extensions” for $60, or seen at the nail salon simply “eyelash”. Well, the “eyelash extensions” you get for $60 are not actually eyelash extensions. Some people call them “individuals”, which can also be misleading. But actually they are cluster lashes (found at any drug or beauty supply store) that are just glopped onto the lashline with loads of adhesive. Often hair weave glue is used, but it can also be any number of different types of adhesive.
Here’s a client who came to me after getting this service

painful and clumped up

And after removal of lash clumps:

And her final new set of lashes, applied to one natural lash at a time. No clumping, itching, or breakage; easy to comb through, soft, and beautiful. *please note what appears to be a gap is just a combing issue that will disappear when lashes are combed.

Please be aware, when you go for an eyelash extension service find out if they are applied to “one natural lash at a time”. The process should be about 2 hours on the first appointment. If it is $60 and takes 20 minutes, definitely beware. The problem with these lashes is not only are they unsightly (I feel theydetract from a woman’s beauty, rather than add to it), they are also uncomfortable and damaging to your natural lashes. Once you spend the initial cost of a full set of real eyelash extensions, the upkeep for them is similar in cost to the cluster lashes, but with a much more beautiful result.

Flawless Lashes new location open today!

Well, it is a very exciting day for me today, as it is my first official day at the new Flawless Lashes and makeup studio location. I am conveniently located in Buckhead at 2900 Piedmont Rd. 30305.

Be careful who you choose…

Here is a perfect example of why it is so important to be careful when choosing a lash stylist. Before you go to a stylist, make sure you look at photos of their ACTUAL CLIENTS. Stock photos from the lash company they trained with is no representation of the work they will do.

The client below had been coming to me for lashes, but went back to California for the past month. She had her lashes done by a certified lash stylist who was supposedly very reputable.
Her lashes could not be combed, multiple lashes were stuck together with glue, and had been coming out in chunks.
She could not get a touchup, as this was very uncomfortable, and just not workable.
I took them completely off, and did a quickie set with the remaining time on her appt. She will come back soon to get them back to her original thickness.

I am so glad this was not her first experience with eyelash extensions. If someone does not know how it is supposed to be done, they will think eyelash extensions are a very bad idea, when really they should be soft, flexible, and undetectable.

Big problem!

After removal and light set. Much better!

Flawless Lashes client of the month!

I consider myself very fortunate to have a wonderful supply of clients who are interesting, fun, talented, caring, and just all around great women. (I have yet to have a male client, but maybe one day! :) ) So I thought why not showcase one of my clients each month?

For the month of March I want to share my client Sandy with you.  Sandy has one of those dynamic personalities that makes you feel like a good friend from the minute you meet her.

Not only does she have wonderful sons who are talented athletes, Sandy also has the admirable spirit of someone who can be a hospice nurse.  She is around so many people in difficult situations, but still maintains a fun, happy, incredibly positive outlook.  She is truly an inspriration.

As far as Sandy’s eyelash extensions go, she likes ‘em long, thick, and GLAMOUROUS!  When she first came to me for lashes, she actually had a couple quite large gaps in her natural lashes.  She had tried everything, different mascaras, stopping use of the eyelash curler, anything, and everything, but these gaps would not fill in.  We chalked it up to hormones, and I did my best to give her the lashes of her dreams.  It took alot of fancy footwork to get the gaps filled in, but they looked nice.  We decided to then give Revitalash a try, in addition to her not using mascara anymore, and her lashes have completely filled back in.  Now I am able to give her the lush, sexy lashes she was desiring, and then some!  Just take a look, and yes her eyes are so pretty and blue! :)

Here’s what Sandy has to say about her lashes:

“I love how my eye lashes look, how they make me feel pretty and put together all the time ( even if I don’t have time to put my makeup on) and the compliments I get on how my eyes look (and no one can tell that I do not have mascara on). And as you know, your lash extensions have given my own lashes a chance to grow.”
